「街市」是香港其中一個重要的文化，經濟及民生的基礎設施。香港理工大學賽馬會社會創新設計院於2013年發起「排檔創新」計畫，由阮文韜帶領的跨學科團隊去研究香港街市文化並為排檔提供新的設計方案。

「排檔創新」的主要目的是為未來排檔設計提出發展方向，以及回應香港政府於2011年的花園街排檔大火後提出的有關排檔消防安全的建議。

經過4年的研究及實施，至今逾4,063檔排檔已完成更新。「排檔創新」透過改善香港的排檔設計，成功保留香港街市文化。

Street market has been an important part of our urban culture, local economy, and social infrastructure in Hong Kong. With a multi-disciplinary team led by Manfred Yuen, Hawker Reload is a project initiated by PolyU JCDISI where we have embarked on a journey to understand street markets, Hong Kong’s unique heritage and to provide design solutions for hawker stands in Hong Kong.

The prime objective of Hawker Reload is to suggest how the design of future hawker stalls may develop and how future designs should respond to the suggestions on hawker stalls fire safety made by the Hong Kong Government in the aftermath of the Fa Yuen Street fire in 2011.

After 4 years of research and implementation, over 4,063 hawker stalls in Hong Kong have been renewed to the new design.
