AUDITION INFORMATION
Auditions are open to anyone 16 years of age or older (or turning 16 in 2023). Auditions will take place at Ascension Dance at 530 Victoria Ave, Suite E and F Saturday September 9th from10-12 and 2-4pm.
Call backs (if needed for leads) will be on Sunday September 10th at 2pm. If you are interested in auditioning, please fill out the audition form. We are asking all prospective auditionees for the lead roles to prepare the following:
One section of a musical theatre song of your choice that you feel best showcases your vocal ability, approximately one minute in length (or about one verse and one chorus). You may bring your own sheet music or accompaniment track. A Capella auditions will not be accepted.
One of the provided musical sections from a song in the show, selected based on the character for whom you are most in auditioning (if you’re interested in multiple characters, please select one musical section). For those auditioning for the ensemble, please select one of the two sections provided. For those interested in the Chorus, auditioners may choose to prepare either one or both of the song choices listed above.
Some auditionees may be asked to do a vocal range test or a cold read after their vocal audition. All auditionees will need to participate in the dance call, either before or after their vocal audition. Please make sure you wear comfortable clothing that you can move in easily and bring a pair of indoor shoes with you (running shoes, jazz shoes, or ballet shoes are fine. No socks or bare feet please). Auditionees who are asked to come in for call backs will be notified Monday evening after auditions are complete.
REHEARSAL/PERFORMANCE INFORMATION
Rehearsals will take place on Sunday evenings from 2:00pm to 5:00pm, beginning on Sunday, August 6th. We will only be holding rehearsals on Sunday’s until January 2024 where they will start to ramp up from there. Rehearsals will take place in the studios at Ascension Dance, Theatre Kent or a venue tbd in the fall and winter.
Performances will be on: May 23rd, May 24th and May 25th at 7:00pm. Tech week will take place from Sunday, May 19th – opening night on Friday, May 23rd. Cast attendance is mandatory at all nights of tech week and all performances.
