From the beginning, the word "sustainable" in our name has confused people about what we do, because that word means different things to different people.

Sonoma Valley will always need a forum of representatives from the widest array of sectors across our community, finding solutions and taking action to address our community’s biggest challenges. We are not going away. We remain committed to advancing Sonoma Valley's triple bottom line of equity, environment, AND economy, as reflected in our three-circles logo. But we need a new name.

The core functions of our coalition are:
     1. We identify and tackle complex community problems with an explicit value of sustainability, finding solutions that have the greatest buy-in and also promote balance among: environment, economy and everyone (equity).
     2. We help facilitate diplomacy across key sectors within the community, linking together organizations and leaders to solve complex community problems.
     3. We work to build a shared understanding of complex community problems and shift public opinion toward agreed-upon solutions.
     4. We develop tools that inform member decisions on new projects, policies and proposed actions.
     5. We identify and link potential investment opportunities with new projects or programs that align with our explicit values and identified solutions.

With these core functions in mind, we invite you to help us give Sustainable Sonoma a new name!
