To read descriptions of all Writing Center workshop offerings:
https://writingcenter.gmu.edu/workshops/in-class-workshopsThe best workshops often become conversations among the presenters, the students, and the instructor. We invite instructors to discuss how the material in the workshop applies specifically to their courses and assignments, and we require the instructor to be present when consultants are delivering a workshop to the class. Faculty who would like to request a workshop through the Writing Center will have consultants join their class in person, on online on Zoom or Collaborate Ultra. To maintain a safe workspace, we will have fewer consultants on site than usual, so while we will do our best to fulfill requests for in-person roadshows, we may need to ask you to host the consultant on Zoom.
Please note: After the first few weeks of the term, student demand for individual consultations frequently exceeds our capacity, making us mindful about reassigning the staff from consultations to workshops. If you request a workshop for multiple sections of a course, we may offer to present the workshop to one of your sections, then share our materials to allow you to make the presentation to the remaining sections.
If you have any questions about which workshop works best for your course and your learning goals, please contact Erin Snyder, Outreach Coordinator, at
esnyde5@gmu.edu.
Please fill out one form for each workshop you request. Please submit requests two weeks in advance, as our staff is booked for consulting well in advance. Thank you!
