2) original Cult of Marriott Carpet parade group in 2016.

1) This is the sign up form for the CULT OF MARRIOTT CARPET. This is the original Marriott Carpet parade group that was founded in 2015 and marched for the first time in the parade in 2016. The motto on our parade banner is "You Can't Pull the Rug Out from Under Us!" Creativity is encouraged!

2) This is the sign up form for the MARRIOTT CARPET CHEER SQUAD. They wear a cheerleading uniform, carry pom-poms, and cheer for the Marriott carpet. They were founded in 2018 and marched with the Cult of Marriott Carpet parade group for the first time in 2019.

3) This is the sign up form for the CARPETSAURUS REX group. They wear an inflatable dinosaur T-Rex costume with the Marriott Carpet pattern. Their first year marching in the parade was 2021. In 2021 and 2022 they had their own separate sign up procedure. in 2023 and 2024 they signed up on this form. For 2025 they will sign up on this form again. 4) This is NOT the sign up form for the Marriott Carpet Marching Band and Color Guard. If you play an instrument or twirl a flag or light saber, and are interested in joining the Marriott Carpet Marching Band, send an email to MarriottCarpetMarchingBand@gmail.com.

Unconfirmed spaces may be given to someone on the waiting list. No-shows prevent people from marching in the parade. The parade could take months to fill up. Or hours. It is always hard to tell. In 2019 there were over 400 people on the parade's official waiting list and many did not get in. Some years it has taken weeks or months for the parade to fill up. Other years the parade filled up within hours and the waiting list was started before February was over.

You can cancel at any time by filling out the "DROP OUT" section of this form.

PARADE RULES and DOES MY CHILD NEED A WRISTBAND?
1) Dragon Con security will check for Dragon Con badges and parade wristbands. Parade wristbands are required for all people aged 7 or older to march in the parade.

2) You must wear a costume.

3) You must have a parade wristband.

4) For the in-person parade, you must have a Dragon Con badge that is valid for Saturday. "With proper ID, we honor the pre-sales confirmations (usually an email) for any Dragon Con memberships that include Saturday as if it were a badge if you have not had the opportunity to pick up your badge before parade morning."

In recent years the single day memberships have gone on sale August 1. They are limited in quantity. Follow the official Dragon Con social media for news.

These are large versions of the plush dragons sold at the Dragon Con store in 2022 (purple), 2023 (white), and 2024 (green).

GROUP VS INDIVIDUAL REGISTRATION - WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE AND HOW DO I CHOOSE?
A parade wristband is required to march in the parade. It will be checked by Dragon Con security.

GROUP REGISTRATION.
This is BY FAR the most popular option and is STRONGLY RECOMMENDED for all first-timers to the parade OR to this parade group.

You will meet with the group leader, "Eternal Zan" Bowden, on Saturday morning in the Marriott Marquis at 8:00 AM. The group leader will hand out wristbands and answer questions. Then we will all take a shuttle bus to the staging location (start of the parade) together so no one gets lost or separated from the group. The staging location is about a mile away from the Marriott.

PLEASE be ON TIME on Saturday morning. People who are late may be left behind and eaten by zombies.

WARNING: People start lining up hours early to get a good spot so the streets are crowded. Streets are closed in preparation for the parade, the shuttle buses for parade marchers are an exception to this.

CHOOSE GROUP REGISTRATION IF...
* You will be at our Saturday morning meetup at 8:00 AM in the Marriott Marquis to pick up your parade wristband.
* You don't want to have to sign up with the parade on Feb 15.

IF YOU CHOOSE GROUP REGISTRATION THEN...
DO NOT register with the parade separately on or after Feb 15. Since you are filling out this form that would be a duplicate registration. The parade will fill up so duplicate registrations take away a spot from someone else.

CHOOSE INDIVIDUAL REGISTRATION IF...
* You want to register a vehicle. You will get separate vehicle information directly from the parade.
* You want to pick up your parade wristband on Thursday or Friday from the parade's table in the Courtland Grand host hotel, formerly known as the Sheraton Atlanta.

IF YOU CHOOSE INDIVIDUAL REGISTRATION THEN...
You will need to sign up directly with the parade as an INDIVIDUAL when registration opens on  Feb 15 and request to be placed with the 1) Cult of Marriott Carpet or 2) Eternal Members and Friends group on the parade's form. 

The group leader ("Eternal Zan" Bowden) will NOT have your wristband. You will be picking it up yourself at the parade's table in the Courtland hotel. After you have picked up your wristband you are welcome to join our meetup on Saturday morning and travel with us to the staging location at the start of the parade.

If you sign up as an individual and later need to drop out then please email the parade director at dc_parade@dragoncon.org. The parade director cannot give your wristband to someone else unless you contact them directly to drop out. Thank you!

Yes. After spaces for the groups listed above have filled up then we will start a waiting list for them. If people need to drop out later in the year then we'll contact people on our waiting list. SIGNING UP ON OUR WAITING LIST DOES NOT GUARANTEE YOU WILL BE ABLE TO MARCH IN THE PARADE.
In the past over 400 people were on the parade's wait list and most did not get in. :( The wait list may be closed when it is full - this can happen at any time.

HOW DO I REGISTER A VEHICLE?
Vehicle spots are very limited and in some past years all of them were taken in less than a day. If you have a vehicle then register directly with the parade as an individual and request to be placed in a specific group. Vehicles will get separate instructions from the parade. 
During registration write this on their form: "I would like to be placed with the (name of group) (1) Cult of Marriott Carpet led by Zan Bowden or 2) Eternal Members and Friends led by Zan Bowden."  The reason you are mentioning my name is to ensure you get the correct instructions from the parade and eliminate any potential confusion. Zan Bowden founded and leads the original Cult of Marriott Carpet group that first marched in the parade in 2016. Zan Bowden also founded and leads the Eternals and Friends parade group, they first marched in the parade in 2015.

Maybe. First, contact the group leader for the area you want to join. They can tell you if there are any openings for their group and answer your questions. Some areas are managed by the parade and don't have a group leader. In that case the parade will place you into the correct section for your costume.

2) Yes, you can wear the current, ugly brown "skid marks" carpet. Maybe it is your favorite carpet. We don't judge here. ;)

Q: I'M NEW TO DRAGON CON AND I DON'T GET IT. YOU PEOPLE WORSHIP CARPET THAT DOESN'T EXIST ANYMORE?

A: Yes. Let me explain. No, there is too much. Let me sum up. It all started many years ago when the creative folks at Volpin Props decided to make their own soldier costumes but instead of the standard camouflage coloring they used the pattern of the Marriott Carpet at the time. It was a viral internet sensation! The carpet was replaced in 2016 but we continue to honor its memory. Wearing the carpet pattern is a fun way to be a part of something that is unique to Dragon Con.

After the parade we will be getting our annual professional group photo op with Bryan Humphrey aka Mad Scientist with a Camera. We will travel together straight from the parade to our photo op. The location is the Marquis level of the Marriott. Find the information booth at the bottom of the escalator and then go left. ETERNALS PARADE GROUP THEME

Marvel's Eternals costumes are welcome! Our theme has always been eternal/ immortal creatures and/ or Dragon Con themed outfits. It is pretty simple - we are the Dragon Con Eternal Members so we are using every part of that for our theme. This is a broad theme that is open to a wide range of creative interpretations, exactly what costumers do best!

Participating in our theme has always been optional. You can march in our group with any costume that is allowed by the rules of the parade. We encourage creativity!

MEETING AREA MAP. HOW TO GET OUR MEETING AREA ON SATURDAY MORNING AT 8:00 AM.
The parade will start with or without us so please BE ON TIME.  Saturday is the busiest day for Dragon Con. The crowds line the streets early to get a good spot for the parade. Traffic is shut down early to clear the streets.

We are meeting just outside the Eternals/VIP Badge Pickup room in Marriott room L507-508, lobby level. A map of our meeting spot is at http://dragonconeternalmembers.com/parade. A link to the map is also in the Facebook event description.

Directions: Go to the Lobby level of the Marriott. Then go to the Starbucks and look for the nearby concierge desk. Go all the way down the hallway to the immediate left of the the concierge desk. You will see the Eternals/VIP badge pickup room to your right. We are meeting outside this room in the nearby lobby area. MEETING AREA MAP
ACCESSIBILITY
The parade staging area is about a mile away from the host hotels. This is where all parade marchers are required to line up to get ready for the parade.
While all shuttle buses to the staging area are supposed to be wheelchair friendly, there have been reports in past years of that not being the case. If you have any mobility considerations please contact Dragon Con's official Disability Services as soon as possible for the most current information on this topic. https://www.dragoncon.org/resources/at-the-show/disability. Advance planning is key when you need to arrange alternate transportation. I strongly suggest also having a Plan B.
