Reuse Planet (and our original location, Repurpose Project) is a non-profit community based effort that works to divert useful resources from the landfill, redirect these items to the public for art and education, inspire creativity, and help us all rethink what we throw away. In short, we are a junk shop that specializes in material not accepted by traditional thrift stores.
We are growing and searching for new members of our team at our second location, Reuse Planet!
We are currently looking to fill a position on our Truck Team (driving our box truck to do pickups & deliveries) with the following expectations:
Customer Service:
- The truck position at Reuse Planet is the face of our organization. PIckups are often the first time customers are introduced to our organization and customer service is important.
- Talking to the material donors, be the friendly engaging face that encourages more donations in the future and makes them want to visit our locations.
- Explain our mission and why we are working hard to build a local circular economy.
- Respond quickly and professionally to texts, phone calls, and emails.
- Respect the stuff (both donations and deliveries) and use carpet/moving blankets/etc to protect the items. When people donate items to us, we are the new stewards of that thing. People want their donations to be treated with care. People who have purchased an item (and paid for deliver) expect extreme care during delivery of their purchase.
Job Requirements:
- Experience driving a box truck & trailers (preferred)
- Experience moving large items safely with handtrucks, dollies, moving blankets, etc. (preferred)
- Ability to lift 80 lbs repeatedly
- Perfect driving record (preferred)
- Work collaboratively with the warehouse and intake teams during donation drop off to get the donated items to the right location within our building
- Ability and willingness to learn and use technology: smart phones, slack, pickups app
- Weekend availability
- Availability (between 4 -5 days a week) approx 32-40 hr/wk with a 1yr commitment; we want someone who is interested in building this organization with us over the long term, and who will be a good investment in terms of training time.

Starting pay is $14-16/hr based on experience.
