Sturm-Page Piano Scholarship Competition for Middle School and High School Students

ELIGIBILITY:
Students who reside or attend school in Contra Costa County or study with a teacher who resides in Contra Costa County and are current members of the PAS Student Chapter, or who study piano with a teacher who is a current PAS member. 
Past 1st place winners are not eligible to compete in the same category. 
  • Middle School Division - Grades 6-8; limited to the first 10 applications received.
  • High School Division - Grades 9-12; limited to the first 12 applications received.
Applications will be processed in the order in which they are received. Only one student per teacher per level, unless there are spaces available.

REPERTOIRE:
  • Preliminary Round (all applicants):
Any two contrasting pieces from different periods of music.
Middle School: <7 minutes, High School: <12 minutes. Longer pieces may be played, but judges will hear only excerpts, at their discretion.
  • Final Round: (3 Middle School finalists, 5 High School finalists):
One complete piece or movement from the Preliminary Round, student’s choice: <7 minutes in the Middle School Division and <12 minutes in the High School Division.

AWARDS:
  • Middle School Division: 1st ($300), 2nd ($200), 3rd ($100), Audience Award ($50)
  • High School Division: 1st ($600), 2nd ($400), 3rd ($200), Honorable Mention ($100), Audience Award ($100), Judges Special Recognition Award ($100)

Preliminary Round: 12:00-6:00 PM (closed to public)
Final Round: 6:30-8:30 PM (open to public)

HOW TO APPLY:
All applications must be received no later than March 9, 2024. Complete and submit this Google Form in its entirety. Incomplete forms will not be accepted. An application form may also be downloaded from the PAS website (www.ccpas.org) and emailed to Olya Katsman at olyakatsman88@gmail.com. Application Fee: No fee for students who are members of the PAS or study with a teacher who is PAS member.  Membership has to be verified by March 1, 2024.
