2019 World Wushu-Kungfu Day Logo Contest
With submissions pouring from all over the world for the 2019 WWKD logo competition, the WWKD team at the IWUF worked hard to narrow the pool down to the final 21 logos -- now it's up to you to decide which logo will be seen around the world on August 10, 2019, the second-ever World Wushu-Kungfu Day!

WWKD Purpose:

“Through WWKD, we aim to raise global awareness of all forms of wushu-kungfu and practitioners of all styles, traditional or contemporary, for the physical and mental benefits that wushu can offer to everyone.”

"The logo is based on the month of the World Wushu-Kungfu Day (August, the 8th month), martial arts practitioners, and other elements, ingeniously blending into the Chinese character "Wu" to highlight the central focus of the holiday with the middle based on the Taiji trigrams. Regarding color, the five Olympic colors are used, symbolizing the five wushu concepts of peace, harmony, friendship, health, and nature, and showcasing the charm of wushu and reflecting the splendid activities of the World Wushu-Kungfu Day.

The logo is centered on the "Palm-fist Salute." The shape is cleverly blended with the fluttering symbol of friendship and communication, a symbol of soaring in wushu, and the confidence of wushu practitioners. It also brings with it the concept of Taiji, which conveying the world's wushu and the role of bridges and ties for friendship exchanges, cultural integration, and mutual understanding, as well the vitality of wushu.

The logo is designed with the theme of "Wu" as the main element of the design. Through the sweeping of the strokes, the logo vividly shows a dove symbolizing peace and the "earth" shared by human beings, conveying the concept advocated by the wushu movement.

The logo symbolizes that the wushu movement is a globally shared and healthy lifestyle; the leaping “wushu practitioner” symbolizes the vitality of wushu; the dynamic “globe” and the abstract multinational flags symbolize the five continents, that wushu brings people from all over the world together to share the joy of the holiday.

The logo design uses movements globally recognizable as belonging to wushu, with distinctive taiji outlines as well as the contour of the earth; the text combines the Chinese character "Wu" with the name of the holiday in English. As a whole, the logo shows the characteristics of wushu movement, softness, health, and a continuous upward trajectory as wushu is shared around the world.

The logo centers on the character "Wu", a character constructed from the combination of the Taiji trigram and wushu movements. A wushu practitioner stands atop the Taiji trigram. The tough lines of the "Wu" character highlight both the rigid and soft characteristics of wushu movements. Meanwhile, the five arcs forming a the ring around the figure embody the idea that wushu enthusiasts from five continents form one big family.

At the International Wushu Academy in Bergamo, Italy, we make a bridge between China and the East. The dragon chasing its own tail symbolizes the long history of ancient Chinese martial arts, and colors of the logo, yellow and red, call to mind the colors of both the Chinese flag and Bergamo’s flag. The girl with the “Wu” on her chest should inspire more girls in the world to train wushu.

The logo is based on the “WWKD” abbreviation for World Wushu-Kungfu Day, and it is a bright red-blue, simple and eye-catching display of the World Wushu-Kungfu Day. The upper portion displays a "palm-fist salute," with two wushu practitioners in the lower part. The wushu world is a global family.

The logo adopts the shape of the sanda leitai, with the "Wu" character as the basic element, evolving into two figures competing in wushu. The foci are the skills, and "Wu" is depicted as strong yet elegant and gentle, with a harmonious yin and yang, connoting the spirit of wushu. On the periphery is a nine-petal lotus flower in full bloom, symbolizing a gathering of wushu heroes and everyday practitioners all in one place fro all over the world to celebrate friendship and the long history of wushu.

The logo is composed of a “Wu” character, a wushu athlete, flying ribbons, and the earth. The “Wu” character is organically combine with wushu athletes. The lines are smooth and dynamic, reflecting the characteristics of wushu, and the flying ribbons and earth call on the global people to participate in the wushu movement, exchange friendship, and share the charm of wushu.

This logo depicts a stick figure giving the "palm-fist salute" and calling to mind the English letters "WK" for the name of the holiday, "World Wushu-Kungfu Day." Taiji imagery appears in the figure's head,  with a "W" making up the "palm-fist salute"; a "K" for "kungfu" composed of straight block graphics, calling to mind the clothing of an ancient warrior, symbolizing modern wushu's ancient and traditional origins; embedded within the figure is the essence of "World Wushu-Kungfu Day." The figure stands on the earth, demonstrating wushu enthusiasts' beautiful displays of wushu all over the world. The lines are both free curves and straight lines, symbolizing the perfect unity of the world's wushu, the combination of strength and flexibility, skill and strength.

The logo is designed with the Chinese character “Wu”, calling to mind elements of a flying dragon among the clouds; the feeling is one that is at once stable and fashionable, with dynamic coloring. The Chinese character an abstract depiction of a wushu movement, full of tension, representing wushu's dynamics and characteristics; it combines the traditional Chinese seal and elegant and smooth calligraphy, symbolizing the spirit of a wushu culture full of vitality and self-improvement.

"On the logo there is the Earth along with silhouettes of different styles of wushu (kungfu). The wushu greeting represents respect and adherence to traditions. The monad (ying-yan) symbolizes the integration of sports and traditions, joining different wushu styles and the collaboration of all people on the planet."

The human figure represents the wushu practitioner. Drawn with no gender and no specific ethnic traces, it can make every person feel represented, no matter who you are or where you come from in the wushu community. The color of the figure symbolizes peace, showing the practitioner is both at peace with herself or himself, and with those around her or him. The posture, holding the world, is seen in several different wushu styles, traditional and modern, bringing forward the concept of balance and harmony.

The leaping  symbolizes the enthusiasm of wushu people, with limitless vitality, and the lines are as energetic as the wushu movements, movements that connect people from every corner of the world to share the exchanges and joys brought by World Wushu-Kungfu Day.

This logo is based on wushu's long history, from its origins as defense to contemporary wushu focused on competition and health benefits. Wushu has spread throughout the world, and more and more people everywhere are understanding that life must maintain a balance between mind, body and spirit. The purpose of this logo is to find a solid, friendly and universal identity, a reflection of a vision without borders that aspires to be recognized as an Olympic sport, while maintaining a sober line and visual balance in its allusion to Chinese calligraphy.

The positive energy generated by all those who practice Wushu all over the world flows above the circle, an energy that promotes physical and mental benefits in the world around us. It also suggests motion and movement of the practice itself, with the transition of colour from blue to red. The circle, a globe and a face, reflects the global celebration, as well as the traditional imagery of yin and yang. The classic red and blue IWUF colours are intensified to further create visual impact and excitement, coming alive with the yin and yang symbol as eyes for the face of Wushu. The smile on the face of wushu celebrates the fostering of community and culture between people from all walks of life as we all celebrate World Wushu-Kungfu Day together around the world.
