Tuesday, November 23 from 2:15-2:45 MT Edmonton,  Workshop Title: Interactive, Nonlinear Stories with Twine

Wednesday, December 8th, 1:15 - 2pm MT Edmonton, Workshop Title: Tutorial on how to use GitHub to publish Twine stories

About Twine: Twine is an open source tool that can be used to create stories that are interactive and non-linear. Twine can be used for multiple purposes storytelling including embeded images, video, and audio if desired. Twine can also create game based experiences which gives readers options and choices throughout the the story. All reader choices and selections in Twine stories are saved locally in the readers’ web browser and there is also no need to create an account, which means that there are little to no privacy concerns when using Twine in educational settings.

About Rich: Rich McCue was born and raised in Victoria and is a father of five wonderful children. Rich manages the University of Victoria Libraries Digital Scholarship Commons (DSC). The DSC does this by making available digital tools like 3D printers, electronics kits, Virtual Reality equipment, and data visualization software, and teaching people how to use the tools. Rich is also a sessional instructor in the Faculty of Education at the University of Victoria and teaches educational technology related classes. In his spare time, he reads, coaches soccer, sails & goes mountain biking with his kids.

Here’s the workshop outline if you’d like to see what it would cover: https://uviclibraries.github.io/twine/

And here’s an example of a Twine story: https://emilymccue.ca/immigration/

For the hands on part of the workshop it would be helpful if everyone had access to their own computer so that they can create a short choose your own adventure story during our time together.

Cost: Free.   Scroll down to register.
