Reuse Planet: Entry Level Donation Intake Position
Reuse Planet (and our original location, Repurpose Project) is a non-profit community based effort that works to divert useful resources from the landfill, redirect these items to the public for art and education, inspire creativity, and help us all rethink what we throw away. In short, we are a junk shop that specializes in material not accepted by traditional thrift stores.

We are growing and searching for new members of our team at our second location, Reuse Planet!

We are currently looking to fill a position on our Donation Intake Team:

-You will be the one that takes donations and filters them where they need to go, this requires the ability to determine what is trash and what is reusable. If it is reusable, where and how? (Don't worry, we have a system and we will teach you)
-Taking donations is customer service, make it fun and easy for the people donating.
-To succeed on this team you need to be the sort of person who can look at a pile of dirty things in a pile of bags and boxes and be able to see the path to organizing them without getting overwhelmed.
-Donations never stop coming, but the pace is completely unpredictable.  The intake team needs to be ready and prepared for anything.
-You need a jack of all trades sort of knowledge base, or the interest and drive to develop one in order to identify and categorize the vast array of items that are donated.
-Price all small objects that are sold at Reuse Planet.
-Everything is some combination of heavy, dirty, and sticky. Seriously, everything.
-This team works heavily with the intake team at The Repurpose Project via the messaging app Slack.
-Intake acts as backup for the truck team when they have quick turn arounds for pickups or deliveries.
-Intake works in tandem with the Backstock Warehouse team to take and organize furniture donations.

This is an entry level job, we will provide all required training.  There are few people on earth who can come in with all of the skills we need.  You are extra encouraged to apply if you have skills or interest in any of these areas: Interior decorating, making order out of chaos, DIY anything, antiques, What is this mystery trash?, community engagement, or hyping up strangers Pinterest dreams.

We ask that you are available for at least 25 hr/wk with a 1yr commitment; we want someone who’s interested in building this organization with us over the long term, and who will be a good investment in terms of training time.

Benefits include paid time off, flexible scheduling, access to our workspaces, and a supportive work environment which values the sustainability and well-being of each employee.

We work very hard, and derive a huge amount of satisfaction from our jobs. There are many opportunities to learn new skills and work creatively to develop new ideas around reuse. We strive to create a workplace where everyone’s time is valued equally and where we share the hard work, the fun stuff, and the decision making power.

In any position available, we are looking for people who:

- Care about our organization's mission
- Have a willingness to work hard to make themselves, our organization, staff, and community thrive

- Can have fun while being productive at work
