Burwinkel Farms, a small family-run farm in Ross, OH, is seeking motivated individuals to join our team. We welcome applicants aged 16 and above, with consideration for enthusiastic and responsible 14-year-olds.

Employee Expectations:

Schedules:
  • Sweet corn and produce season runs from the end of June through Labor Day, with fall/pumpkin season from Labor Day through Halloween.
  • Priority will be given to applicants available for work during our busy fall season until October 31st.
  • Daily produce picking is required, rain or shine.
  • We aim for fair scheduling, providing appropriate time off each week, with returning employees receiving priority for scheduled hours.
  • Weekend availability is essential, though not necessarily every Saturday and Sunday.
  • Corn pickers must be available weekday and weekend mornings (6am-noonish).
  • Retail sales employees require weekday and weekend availability, with hours varying by location.
  • Applicants involved in recreational activities that significantly interfere with their schedule and availability are discouraged from applying.

Field hand:

Ideal summer position for high school or college students (minimum age 14). Part-time work available at our farm in Ross, OH. Responsibilities include picking and packing sweet corn, tomatoes, and other produce. Candidates must thrive in fast-paced environments, exhibit motivation, and possess a positive attitude. Physical requirements include lifting up to 50 lbs and working in hot and humid conditions. Work hours typically 6 am to 11 am/noon for corn pickers, with varied hours for other produce picking. We operate 7 days a week, aiming to provide workers with at least 1 day off per week. Season runs from June to early September, with potential pumpkin picking through October. Starting wage is minimum wage with advancement opportunities. Reliable transportation required.


Retail Sales:

Level 1: Ideal summer position for high school and college students or anyone seeking seasonal work. Must be at least 16 years old (exceptions may apply for motivated applicants aged 14+). Part-time positions available at our farm in Ross, OH, and other roadside markets. Responsibilities include assisting customers at our open-air markets, handling produce sales, and maintaining a positive customer experience. Physical requirements include lifting 40-50 lbs and working outdoors in various weather conditions. No prior retail experience necessary, but good people skills are essential. Season runs from late June to early September, with potential pumpkin sales through October. Starting wage is minimum wage with opportunities for advancement. Reliable transportation required.

Level 2: Ideal summer position for high school and college students or individuals seeking seasonal employment. Part-time positions available at our produce market locations. Candidates should thrive in fast-paced environments, demonstrate strong motivation, and maintain punctuality. Responsibilities include independent operation of market locations, including inventory handling and customer service. Physical requirements include lifting 40-50 lbs and working outdoors in various weather conditions. Prior retail experience preferred but not required. Season runs from late June to early September. Starting wage is minimum wage with potential for advancement, particularly for candidates with retail sales experience. Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
