Definition of First Language/Home Language
The first language is the native language a child was exposed to in their early years ie: the language which a person has grown up speaking from early childhood.. The first language is the language which was communicated with the child until s/he was one year old as the child's first language.
A home language is a language (or the variety of a language) that is most commonly spoken by the members of a family for everyday interactions at home. Also called the family language or the language of the home, and is the language the child now speaks at home.
