2024 SUMMER ORCHESTRAL INSTITUTE AT MTSU (NSOI)

We are looking forward to an amazing 2024 Summer Orchestral Institute at MTSU! The Summer Orchestral Institute (NSOI) is open to students (8th-12th grades), undergraduate students, graduate students and adults. If you have any questions, please contact Dr. Nies at: Carol.Nies@MTSU.edu

Apply now! There are a limited number of NSOI positions- and quite a few sections are already filled, or are almost filled! 

To apply:
1)  Fill out the online application below
2)  Send your audition video recording (one and a half pages to two pages of a solo) by an unlisted youtube link or a dropbox link to Carol.Nies@mtsu.edu. If you are an NSOI alumni, a Summer Orchestral Institute Alumni, or an MTSU Symphony member, an audition video is optional for 2024 SOI acceptance, as you have auditioned previously.

College students, graduate students and adults may also apply for a limited number of 2024 Summer Orchestral Institute Fellowship positions. Fellowship positions include full tuition scholarships, leadership positions and solo opportunities.

The 2024 Summer Orchestral Institute Concerto Competition is open to all 2024 SOI members and 2024 SOI Fellowship members. Entrants will submit one movement of a concerto (with piano accompaniment) by an online video link (unlisted youtube link). The deadline for the 2024 Concerto Competition application and on-line video audition submission is May 14.



2024 Summer Orchestral Institute Tuition is $60. Limited scholarship aid is available. Email Dr. Nies (Carol.Nies@MTSU.edu). All meal costs are the responsibility of each SOI member/SOI family. Students may bring picnic meals or bring money to eat at on-campus dining facilities.

Sleep Inn (193 Chaffin Place) is offering a special Nashville Summer Orchestral Institute discounted rate for families who do not live in the Middle Tennessee area. (All meal and hotel costs are the responsibility of each SOI member/family.) There are also many outstanding B and B's in the area.  SOI students under 18 years old must be accompanied by a parent for hotel/B and B stays.
