All requests for the following school year must be received by Friday, May 3rd.

Otsego Public Schools wants you to know that a great deal of thought goes into making class assignments for all students.  This is a trust we do not take lightly.  Our hope is that we will always maintain your faith in us as professionals in this placement.

In placing children, Otsego Public Schools believes that learning to get along with different personalities and adapting to situations is a vital part of preparing students for a successful future.  We consider the insight of our teachers from the previous grade level and try to match learning styles, academic abilities, gender, work ethic, and many other factors in developing our class lists. It is our request that you define your child’s extenuating circumstances and special information as it relates to a specific teaching/ learning style, personality or disability, not a specific teacher. 

We are not always able to honor requests that simply state that a certain teacher is desirable for reasons other than those stated above. Your cooperation is most appreciated.

The following special circumstances need to be considered for my child. 

When making a request, please indicate the teaching style that best fits your child rather than asking for a specific teacher.  Examples are: “A teacher that uses a ‘hands-on’ approach”, “has a structured schedule”, or “has had a lot of experience with students who have attention deficit disorder.”

Fulfillment of this request will be attempted but is not assured.  The final decision on a child’s placement remains with the school.
