Is there a conversation or a snapshot of an image from your childhood that remains with you throughout your lifetime? This workshop will guide participants to turn their beloved recollections of their childhood into a tangible keepsake—by enshrining it in the form of comic. 

你的童年是否有一段記憶，例如對話或者閃現的畫面讓你印象深刻？此工作坊將讓參與者以連環圖方式來敘述一段童年情景，將腦海中揮之不去的記憶，化爲筆下的漫畫敘事。

Details for the workshop 工作坊參與者須知

  1. Gather one (or multiple) childhood memories that you would like to share with others. It would be best if you could also bring along videos and photographs as references. Due to time constraints, participants might only have time to draw one page, so the story should preferably be short and simple. Example: “When it’s 5.30 in the afternoon, Ah Seng will come to the construction site opposite my house and make metal dinging noises—it’s a call to come out and play. All the other kids (including my brother and I) will be running out from our houses to join him.”

    想好一段（也可多幾個備用）想要和大家分享的童年記憶，若有影像和圖像作為參考更為佳。基於時間考量，每位參與者或只能呈現一頁漫畫，請盡量提出簡單的故事，例如：“到了下午五點半，阿成就會在我家對面的建築工地敲打，發出叮叮叮的聲音，提醒我們是時候出來玩了。其他小孩（包括我和哥哥）就會陸陸續續地跑過去。”

  2. Please bring along a sketchpad and a pen that you often use. Our goal is to tell a story through comic drawing instead of creating an artistic masterpiece. participants can rest assured that they do not need an artistic background to join this workshop.   

    請自行準備一本素描本和自己慣用的筆。工作坊的重點在於如何説故事，并不需要呈現完美畫作，所以參與者不需要有繪畫功底。

About Lefty Julian 關於甘承耀

Lefty has more than 30 years of experience in the comics industry. His Major Zombie comic series has won the Best Series and the Best Independent Comics at PeKOMIK Awards Malaysia.

Born and bred in the island of Penang, Lefty has been working in various places between 1991 and 2018,  including:

  • Kuala Lumpur - Senior Art Director, Kadokawa Gempakstarz
  • Singapore and USA - Editor and artist, Storm Lion Pte Ltd
  • Shanghai, China - Editor-in-chief, Left Pocket Creatives
  • Penang - Part-time lecturer and course planner, The One Academy

Lefty has since returned to work in various heritage projects. His main passion is in documentary comics. Lefty is also researching on the subject of the Malaysian multiracial community.

土生土長檳島人，漫畫界內打滾超過30年。名下創作的Major Zombie系列曾獲得馬來西亞漫畫協會PeKOMIK頒發最佳漫畫系列和最佳獨立漫畫獎。

1991年至2018年間遊走世界各地工作：
