Parent voice interest
At GES we value highly the contribution of parents in supporting the school and making it a success. Since the onset of Covid the ability for our community to come together has been lost and we would like to rekindle this important part of the school. Parents can be formally involved in the running of the school through the governing board and also more informally through the parent voice structure.

For a number of years GES has had a parents council, from August we are proposing to change this to parent voice committees. The Parents Council was a special part of the GES community with a mission of building a warm, welcoming and inclusive environment for GES families.  Our hope is that the broad range of new committees will afford parents fun and rewarding ways to get to know each other and the school and make meaningful contributions to our thriving GES community.

Our plan is to have 4 committees that focus on different areas of the school. Each committee would have a chair and these four Chair’s would meet together each term to discuss with the leadership team key aspects from that committee. Each committee would be made up of parents from across the school and would support both primary and secondary.

Parent Voice Structure
There are four committees, each will elect a chair. The committees are:

Fundraising and events - to work on all aspects of fundraising for the school and run the Christmas and Summer Fairs and any additional fundraising activities. This committee will require an elected treasurer to ensure funds are passed to the finance director.

Diversity - to support the school in reviewing the curriculum and other aspects (such as house names) to ensure that our approach to diversity and inclusion is thoughtful and forward looking. To help the school develop our diversity events such as, but not limited to, Black History Month and LGBT History month.

Welcoming committee - a group of parents that welcome our new families and help them settle in. It is envisaged that these would consist of each of the class reps from across the school. In secondary, it may be more appropriate to have Key stage reps to cover the different stages of the school.

Alumni - establishing and maintaining a relationship with our school alumni.
