6th grade is the only opportunity for students to start band. Students must have taken band in 6th grade to be in band in 7th and 8th grade. Students must take middle school band in order to play in the WHS band.
In a normal year, the CMS Band performs 2 concerts, plays at school pep rallies, marches in several parades, and plays at the CMS Homecoming football game. In order to prepare for these performances, students are expected to practice for at least 15 minutes each night. Band is a class at CMS and does not interfere with athletics. Many of our student athletes are in band as well.
The instruments students can choose from are flute, clarinet, trumpet, or trombone. Mr. Sontag will call parents to schedule a mouthpiece test in late May. Students will need to provide their own instruments.
