Dear Nominator,

To support the participation fellowship application for a student or young researcher in VLDB 2022, some information from the nominator is required. Therefore, we kindly ask you to fill the form below by September 1, 2022.

Additionally, nominators are kindly asked to send an extra email from their official university email-account to: vldbfellowships@gmail.com before September 1, 2022 with the subject line of the email being "VLDB 2022 Online Participation Support Nomination for <name-of-applicant-here>" in which they confirm their nomination of the applicant.

The VLDB Endowment participation grants provide financial support for online-only registration to students and young researchers affiliated with universities with limited funding opportunities. Grants have a strong focus on universities in developing countries (as listed by ACM - https://services.acm.org/public/qj/proflevel/countryListing.cfm?promo=PWEBTOP&form_type=Professional) to participate online in the VLDB 2022 conference.

The long-term goal of the program is to encourage talented young scientists to pursue a career in database research. The VLDB Online Participation Support Program provides grants for roughly 100 virtual attendees funded by the VLDB Endowment. These will allow free registration for virtual attendees, provided by a voucher code to be entered at registration time.

ELIGIBILITY AND SELECTION CRITERIA

For VLDB Endowment grants:

Applicants must be full-time students in good standing (graduate or undergraduate) or postdoctoral fellows/researchers, who are either

* affiliated with universities that do not already have considerable presence at VLDB conferences
or
* have a paper at the conference (or associated events).

Applicants for the offered participation support must explicitly state that they do not have sufficient other funding to attend. Preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate keen interest in database research and are from regions that are under-represented in the database community; presenting a paper accepted at the main conference or the workshops in VLDB 2022 is welcome but not mandatory.
