2022 Fall Participation Interest
We are organizing teams for this year's FIRST LEGO League Challenge's season:  SUPERPOWERED. Please reply in the from below if you are planning to or are considering participating this year.

Meetings usually start sometime in August and go through the first tournament in November/December. If teams advance to the state tournament, typically in mid January, then meetings continue until then. After we have a full view of interest, we will be in touch to discuss team assignments and meeting times. The participation fee is $300 and includes event registration and a team T-shirt.

As a reminder, we can only have as many teams as we have volunteer coaches. We will provide training for volunteers, including coach training at Magellan and drop-in assistance from veteran coaches for initial team meetings and periodic meetings during the season.

Please email agberg@gmail.com with any questions about the program, participation fee, or your selection of volunteer roles.

Is there anything else you would like us to know regarding availability or team placement?
Coaching and Parent Volunteers
The number of teams we can host is limited by the number of parents who volunteer to coach. Each student in the program must have an adult volunteer for team support. At a minimum, we recommend that each team have a lead coach, 1-2 co-coaches, and a research coach. Other positions provide support for the team during the season, and include providing addition classroom presence, assisting with logistics (event registration, t-shirt ordering, setting up field trips), and helping with judging preparation. Any special skills or expertise you can share will be of value to the team, but no prior knowledge of programming or robotics is needed.

Please indicate all of the roles that you or family members are willing to fill.

Program Tournament Judge
One of the most valuable positions for helping teams, and the program as a whole, advance.Be a judge at an additional tournament! No experience required, technology background not required. FIRST provides training videos on how to judge. FLL judging changes from year to year and this one day commitment can help all of our teams improve by learning more about this season's judging. You will not judge related teams. Please consider judging at a local early season event(s) even if your team is not participating in that event. One of the best ways to help our teams improve! Event schedule will be posted in late August or early September.
