Hands4Hope - Youth Making a Difference Emergency Food Pantry Committee is looking for new members to join the team in the 2023-2024 School year.
The mission of the Hands4Hope Emergency Food Pantry is to provide families experiencing food insecurity and unmet essential needs on the western slope of El Dorado County with nourishing food and other necessities.
The Emergency Food Pantry Committee works to develop the processes of running a food pantry to support families in need while working with partner agencies such as El Dorado County Office of Education and Placer Food bank. The committee is also responsible for the collection of non perishable, nourishing food by planning food drives within the community. They also manage all operations of the pantry located within the Hands4Hope Placerville Youth Center.
Committee meetings and Food Pantry operations are run out of the Hands4Hope Placerville Youth Center at 905 Spring Street. The Emergency Food Pantry Committee will be made up of youth and adult mentors, including youth committee leadership positions of Chair, Vice Chair, and Secretary. Committee meetings are currently being held on the third Tuesday of each month with food distributions happening on the first Wednesday but are subject to change once the 2023 - 2024 committee has formed.
**For the success of this program, it is essential that committee members be able to meet once a month for committee meetings and provide support for at least 1 monthly outreach or organizing event**
