On Saturday, Oct. 16 the Oakley Neighborhood Association, Asheville on Bikes, & AAPR are hosting an Open Streets event along Thompson St. Open Streets events welcome people into the right of way to explore, walk, rest, and play by simply closing access to automobiles. Join us by volunteering for a 2hr shift.

 Set Up Crew: 10am - 12pm
The Set Up Crew readies Thompson St for the event. The roles and responsibilities include traffic control, barricade setting, trash and recycling placement, and a variety of  miscellaneous last minute tasks. This job requires walking, talking, and a bit of lifting.

Open Streets Headquarter's Crew 12pm - 5pm (2hr shift / volunteer)
Open Streets Headquarters are stationed at the headquarters tent and are available to support Open Streets managers. Walking, talking, problem solving, and lifting are all part of this position.

Barricade Monitors: 12pm - 5pm (2hr shift / volunteer)  
Barricade Monitors attend each of the closed barricades to welcome people into Open Streets and serve as a communication liaison between event managers and the events guests. A sunhat, camping chair, and water bottle complement this position.

Open Streets Monitors: 12pm - 6pm (2hr shift / volunteer)
Open Streets Monitors attend an assigned location and are available to answers questions and serve as a communication liaison between event managers and the events guests. This position entails walking / rolling about an assigned area throughout  the sift.

First Aid Support: 12pm - 5pm (2hr shift / volunteer)
This volunteers in on sight in the event headquarters and is prepared to administer first aid while first responders are contacted. A first responders accreditation and above is required for this position.
