Gary Gilbert Memorial Scholarship Application
This memorial scholarship is given in remembrance of Gary Gilbert, an extraordinary man who passed away soon after serving as President of the North Hunterdon Music Association. The NHMA hopes this scholarship will preserve his memory and inspire North Hunterdon High School students to pursue opportunities and experiences which encourage a lifelong involvement in music.
The Gary Gilbert Memorial Scholarship is open to all NHHS freshmen, sophomores, and juniors who are NHMA members and are interested in supplementing their high school music studies with music education programs outside of school. Eligible programs include, but are not limited to:
Vocal Music Workshop or Summer Camp Program
Instrumental Music Workshop or Summer Camp Program
Musical Theatre Workshop or Summer Camp Program
Scholarship funds are provided to help defray program costs and scholarship amounts vary from year to year depending on the number of qualified applications received. Recipients may receive only one grant per calendar year, but may reapply for additional grants in subsequent years, as needed. Scholarship checks are made out to the organization or institution offering the eligible program; or if payment has been made in advance, a check can be made out to the student/parent once proof of payment is provided. Should the demand for scholarships exceed available funds, the NHMA Board will use the following criteria in awarding scholarships: academic record and a demonstrated commitment to high levels of musical excellence.
Students must submit this application by completing the google form by May 31st.
Scholarship recipients will be notified in writing following the June NHMA meeting.
**NHMA membership is a requirement for Gary Gilbert Scholarship consideration**
