Actions you can take to make a difference

Here are some of the ways you can participate in the July 2021 Coworking IDEA challenge.

Use your platform. If you organize events, make the time and a commitment to program intentionally. Seek a diverse group of speakers that is representative of the many people and perspectives in this industry.

Reach beyond your existing network, and your comfort zone. Consider diversity of age, race, religion, region, language, culture, gender identity, sexuality, disability (visible & invisible), body size, immigration status, income, education, training, industry, role, perspective, lived experience and speaking experience.

Use your presence. If you attend events, make a commitment to only support, promote, and attend events that are diverse, gender balanced and inclusive.

Contact event organizers. Ask them to commit to diverse and representative events. Let them know you will not attend all-white or all-male panels.

Use your power. If you are invited to sponsor an event, make a commitment to only support events that are diverse, inclusive and accessible.

Show your support. Share your values and your commitment to diversity and representation with your networks, and on social media.

Use your privilege. If you are invited to or speak at an event, make a commitment to only participate in events that are diverse, inclusive and gender balanced.

Recommend alternative speakers. Add your favourite speakers to our collaborative list of International experts and panelists.
