In a tiny brick house on Baltimore’s North Amity Street in 1833-1835, Edgar Allan Poe wrote some of the early stories that would make him the father of the modern short story, and create and define the modern genres of mystery, horror and science fiction. Poe House is currently closed to large groups due to the COVID-19 response in Maryland. Educators and Book Club leaders may schedule remote online tours of the house for students, led by a museum docent. Complete this form to request a date and time for a private online session for your group.
LIMITED SESSIONS AVAILABLE. Poe Baltimore will conduct remote tours of the historic Edgar Allan Poe House & Museum for educators, students and homeschool groups. In each session, students log in and follow along as we "walk through" the historic Edgar Allan Poe House & Museum, finishing with a Q&A session and reading of some of the works Poe wrote at Poe House. "Tours" are led online via the Zoom conferencing platform, led by a museum docent.
Private sessions are offered as a one-time service for groups. There is no charge to book this tour, though donations to Poe House are appreciated.
