Middlesex Recreation Summer Playground 2021

Dates: 6 Weeks: July 6, 2021 - August 13, 2021; M - F (excluding holidays)

Registration Deadline: June 18, 2021

Age: Children CURRENTLY in grades K - 5.

Registration & Cost: You may register your child for Summer Playground with specific days of the week or the Full-Week or Full-Summer discount package for Monday - Friday enrollment. Your child's spot is only secured by payment upon your registration submission.

Payment: Calculate your total cost for the Summer, then choose between payment options: credit card (5% fee applied), cash or check. Credit Card payment must be called in - 732 356 7400 ext. 277. Cash and checks can be dropped off at the Recreation Center or mailed in: 1200 Mountain Ave, Middlesex, NJ 08846. Checks must be made out to - Middlesex Recreation Department.

Playground Hours: Summer Playground runs from 9:00 AM - Noon, Monday – Friday (excluding holidays). Children cannot be dropped off any earlier than 8:45 am and picked-up no later than 12:15 pm.

Cohorts: Each group will have 10 - 15 children. Each group will have 1-2 counselors. Groups will do all activities together, including snack time, arts and crafts, games, and much more!

Training: Staff will be trained in hygiene practices for Summer Playground participants, how to ensure social distancing, different socially distant games, monitoring COVID-19 symptoms, what to do if observed, and monitoring their own well-being. They will ensure that everyone is social distanced, will deal with discipline policies, helping with rotations, will be the main point of contact onsite, ensure of wearing masks properly, will be auditing everyone and helping with if a child/staff member starts to experiencing symptoms while at Summer Playground. They will also be in charge of running activities and helping to make sure everyone is having fun in a safe environment!

Drop Off & Pick-Up: Mountain View Park Pavilion - Our drop off and pick up policies will help with social distancing and will avoid group gathering for drop off and pick up. Carpooling can be done within groups and same household. Children are not allowed to leave and come back to Summer Playground. Children are required to stay on site from when they get picked up to when they are dropped off. Pick up will be done in the same areas. If you have someone different pick up your child, please send your child with a letter indicating who will be doing pick with contact information.

Covid-19 Screening: Parents/Guardians will be required to fill out a daily COVID-19 Participation Waiver to attend.

Illness: Please do not send your child to Summer Playground if they feel ill. Plan to keep your child home for the duration of their illness if they may be contagious to other children, or if any of the following systems exist: fever, diarrhea, vomiting, nasal mucus (green in color), unidentifiable or contagious rashes, eye, ear or throat infection unless the child has been on an antibiotic for more than 24 hours and a doctor has advised you that your child is not contagious. If your child is sent to Summer Playground and develops any of these systems, you will be contacted and asked to pick up the child immediately. Please be advised that if your child is absent from Summer Playground due to a contagious disease, the child cannot return to Summer Playground without written medical clearance. In case of emergency, Summer Playground staff will follow emergency procedures to ensure the safety of all children.

Inclement Weather: In the event of inclement weather, Summer Playground will be canceled for the day. Parents will be notified no later than 7:00 AM of that morning. If inclement weather occurs during Summer Playground and Summer Playground must be canceled, parents must be within a 15-minute drive to pick up their child. Please provide emergency contacts in the event parents are not available. Refunds will not be given in the event of inclement weather.

Summer Playground Supplies: Children should come to Summer Playground each day with waterproof sunscreen applied prior to arrival. If additional sunscreen is needed mid-day, please send it with the child and instruct them on how to apply it. Children should wear sneakers to Summer Playground (no open-toed shoes/sandals), and should also bring each day a water bottle and one healthy morning snack - these items should be labeled with his/her name as sharing will not be permitted.

Notice: COVID-19 is an extremely contagious virus that spreads easily through person-to-person contact. Federal and state authorities recommend social distancing to prevent the spread of the virus. COVID-19 can lead to severe illness, personal injury, permanent disability, and death. Participating in Summer Playground or accessing Middlesex Recreation facilities could increase the risk of contracting COVID-19. Middlesex Recreation in no way warrants that COVID-19 infection will not occur through participation in Middlesex Recreation programs or accessing Borough of Middlesex facilities.

Refund Policy: Parents/guardians shall inform the Recreation Department by calling 732-356-7400 ext. 277 or emailing recreation@middlesexboro-nj.gov if the child or a household member tests positive for COVID-19. Middlesex Recreation may cancel Summer Playground dates if there is a possible COVID-19 exposure at Summer Playground. In both cases, pro-rated fees may be applied toward future dates or refunded to participants, based on the discretion of the Middlesex Recreation Department. Refunds will not be given in the event of inclement weather.
