Leader: Anne de Ferron
Start Date: 19-21 April
Nights: 2
Cost: Members $63/ Non-Members $83
Description [Updated! Now going clockwise]: Friday off required. Thu to Roaring Stag. Fri to Arete via Cattle Ridge. Sat to Dundas hut or possibly Herepai. Sunday out. Expect a bit of nav and some classic sketchy Tararua tops travel... Described by some as the 'most treacherous' route in the Tararuas.
NOTE - grade: the grade had been upgraded to a FIT trip. We will need to move at a steady pace and for likely 10 to 12 (or more) hours on rough terrain, including some serious exposure. We'll also have less daylight hours and will likely start/finish in the dark. This is not suitable as a first club trip.
NOTE - weather: will only go ahead in good weather conditions. If not:
Plan B (3 days): classic Dundas loop (i.e. skip Banister and go down Ruamahanga River)
Plan B (2 days): speedy Dundas loop, or Dorset ridge hut, or Mid-Otaki hut
Sign-up closes: 4 April
