School-Parent Compact 22-23
The Gahanna-Jefferson Public Schools, and the parents of the students participating in activities, services, and programs funded by Title I, Part A of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), agree that this compact outlines how the parents, the entire school staff, and the students will share the responsibility for improved student academic achievement and the means by which the school and parents will build and develop a partnership that will help children achieve the State's high standards.
PARENT/GUARDIAN
Communication between teachers and parents is important. As a parent or adult who has responsibility for the child, I will attend meetings that relate to my child’s achievement. I will read each progress report and talk to my child about the progress report. I understand that I will have reasonable access to my child’s teachers, opportunities to volunteer and participate in my child’s class, and observe classroom activities.
I agree to Title I services for my child and will be responsible for supporting the learning of my child in the following ways:
* Visiting and/or participating in the classroom
* Communicating with school
* Supporting school efforts to maintain discipline
* Sending my child well rested to school
* Establishing a study place & time
* Monitoring school attendance
* Encouraging my child to put forth best effort
* Monitoring television time
* Participating in school activities/organizations
* Making sure homework is completed
STUDENT
I agree that I will be responsible for improving my achievement in the following ways:
* Attending school regularly
* Studying for assignments and tests
* Completing homework
* Participating in class
* Being on time for school
* Listening in class
* Ask for help when I need it
* Read every day
* Respecting & cooperating with other students & adults
* Supporting & abiding by all school rules
TEACHER/SCHOOL
I agree that I will be responsible in the following ways:
* Provide high-quality curriculum and instruction in a supportive and effective learning environment that enables the participating children to meet the State’s student academic achievement standards.
* Hold parent-teacher conferences during which this compact will be discussed related to student achievement.
* Provide parents with frequent reports on their children’s progress, including report cards and interim reports.
* Provide parents reasonable access to staff to keep lines of communication open.
* Provide parents opportunities to volunteer and participate in their child’s class.
* Encourage all students to achieve at high levels.
