The Cazenovia Public Library and Cazenovia Preservation Foundation are thrilled to present the award-winning documentary, Chasing Ice, released in 2012, describing how photographer James Balog documented polar and glacial ice loss through the Extreme Ice Survey to raise awareness about climate change. Following the film screening, Dr. Amy Leventer, a Colgate University professor and micropaleontologist specializing in paleoclimatic reconstructions of the Antarctic, will consider the current understanding of climate data trends, 10 years after the culmination of the filming and production of Chasing Ice, and the ways in which we can start planning now to mitigate the effects of climate change. Audience question and answer to follow.

The 75-minute film will be available to stream anytime between April 16th at 7pm until April 18th 7pm. Viewers are then invited to participate in the follow-up presentation via Zoom with Amy Leventer on Sunday April 18th at 7pm.Viewers must register to be sent links to the film screening and the follow-up discussion.  You'll receive a follow-up email with links to access the film and/or the talk 24-hours prior to the event. Questions? Contact Elisha Davies (Library) at edavies@midyork.org or Jen Wong (CPF) jwong@cazpreservation.org .

Both events are free (the film is sponsored by the Friends of the Library) and open to the public. Look for various community Earth Day events throughout April.
