Sensory-Friendly Virtual "Makers" Program
Date: Wednesday, July 14, 6:00 pm

FREE

Join us virtually as The Henry Ford presents a free program designed for individuals with autism spectrum disorder or sensory processing disorder and their family members or caregivers.

This month's program is themed around "makers." Participants will hear from three individuals who are makers and on the autism spectrum. The first is Juniper and her mom, Kate Cosgrove, who collaborate on a weekly web comic called "Junicorn" (https://www.instagram.com/junicornstories/). The second is Eddie Lin, the Ausome Balloon Creator (https://www.facebook.com/AusomeBalloonCreator). The third is Spencer Kelly, Owner of The Expedition Soap Company (https://expeditionsoaps.com/). The program will also include a movement activity and craft. Additionally, we encourage participants to bring things that they have made, which they can share and talk about virtually with all of our attendees.

The program will be held virtually via Zoom and instructions to join as well as a visual schedule will be sent out to all registered participants before the program. Please note that participants can choose to have their cameras on Zoom turned on or off during the program.

Space is limited and registration is required. By attending this virtual program, you also have the choice to receive complimentary tickets (up to six per family) to visit either Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation or Greenfield Village. If you are interested in tickets, please make sure to specify this in the registration information below and to provide your name and address so that we can mail the tickets to you.

ADDITIONAL OPPORTUNITY: Also with the theme of "makers," we will have a sensory-friendly day in Greenfield Village on Sunday, August 1st, that will feature an interactive outdoor art activity with Zot Artz, who make art tools for people of all abilities (http://zotartz.com/). If you are interested in registering for this free event, please sign up at this link: https://forms.gle/AUvhfjmFTSwyRA2h8. (You may sign up for both the virtual program and this onsite event.)

This program is made possible in part by a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services (Grant MA-245773-OMS-20).
