IT’S HAPPENING! We're moving forward and I'm SO EXCITED we have so much support! We are going to make a lab coat that won’t get in your way of doing the research you’re capable of. This project is being featured in media outlets like Chemistry World, C&EN, The Telegraph, BBC Science and CBC Science Radio!
And now we need YOU to help make it happen. We need researchers of all shapes, sizes, genders and types of work. Your role is to tell us the raw, honest truth. What do you love? What could be better? Where exactly does it not fit your body? We may need you to take some size measurements of yourself to fix these problems.
The hard truth is it’s impossible to make a single design that fits everyone perfectly. We want to make a petite fit, a slim fit, a curvy fit, a muscular fit, and even a maternity lab coat. This first version needs to be a significant improvement over what you currently use. It won’t be perfect. We can perfect the design over time for each body type IF this first version is successful.
The first version will be a cotton or FR white lab coat, designed for use in labs that work with chemicals, heat/flame, or biological materials.
Eligibility Requirements: - Be actively working in a lab using a lab coat for all of 2023
- Your lab needs to allow you to wear a 100% cotton or FR-cotton white lab coat
- Be willing to give detailed feedback, including photos or videos of specific problems and body dimensions including waist size, hip size, chest size, and arm length..
- Be willing to do one or two video calls with me or with other beta testers
- Be willing to tell others about your experience and get them excited for the launch
We’ll only have two of each size, so if you get it and you don’t give detailed feedback, your whole size group won’t be well-served. To incentivize follow-through, here’s how the program will work: We’ll ask everyone to place an “order” for $40 on our website. When you finish giving detailed feedback, not only will we refund you this amount, but we’ll also ship you a final design for free when we launch!
Due to the costs involved, we’re going to keep this group to 25-30 people total. We'll ship for free in the USA. We don’t want to exclude anyone, but international shipping costs build up quickly. If you’re international and you really want to be a part of this, shipping will be about $30 extra.
