RRB Bookstore Consignment Program
New authors keep our shelves fresh and nourishing. Red Rice & Beans Diaspora Bookstore (RRB) is happy to discuss our consignment sales program with self-published authors from the African Diaspora. We first encourage all authors and publishers who are considering consignment to review our values. We also encourage all authors and publishers  to visit our website and social media pages to get a sense of the character of the bookstore and the type of books we carry.   RRB will consider selling books with professional production quality, proofreading and marketing plan; professional cover design and page layout; a UPC code, an ISBN and a spine with author and title. To begin the process, please complete the form below (download).

Program Overview
We love promoting the work of self-published authors within our communities; however, the author is responsible for setting the list price of their consigned books, subject to approval by RRB. RRB reserves the right to offer any books at a discount, as part of any promotion, at our discretion. The price paid at check-out, including any discounts, is the “sale price.”

On any sale of the consigned book, the author will receive seventy percent (70%) of the sale price and RRB will receive the remaining thirty percent (30%).

Consignment payments will be calculated quarterly, and payments will be executed within two weeks of the end of each fiscal quarter via electronic payment. It is up to the author to ensure that all provided account details are accurate and secure.

The consignment contract will be reviewed at the end of each fiscal quarter, at which time RRB will evaluate the sales of the consigned book and decide whether or not to renew the agreement. If a consignment contract is renewed at the end of a fiscal quarter, the previous agreements will be honored unless the author or publisher presents changes subject to approval by RRB.

If a consignment contract is not renewed at the end of a fiscal quarter, the author has two weeks to pick up the remaining books, or the author can request that RRB ship the books at the author’s expense. If the books are still in the store two months after the expiration of the consignment agreement, RRB reserves the right to remove them in the most respectful, environmentally-friendly, and cost-effective way.

Although RRB is a virtual bookstore, it is not responsible for losses due to theft, or for any wear and tear on any copies of the consigned book.

Prospective consignment authors must complete application form, and return it to info@rrbbookstore.com or submit the form online in order to qualify for consignment. RRB will consider applications on a quarterly basis. After application approval, an author must pay a $15 administrative and virtual shelf space fee each fiscal year to be eligible for consignment at RRB.
