IMTE's 20th Year Celebration and Summer Mini-Conference

Illinois Math Teacher Educators (IMTE) aims to build connections and community among various IL professionals working in math teacher education. To advance those goals, we will be conducting a summer "mini-conference" on Wednesday, July 14, from 8:30 - 11:30 am. Instead of having keynote speakers, sessions will consist of various IL educators sharing about their work related to specific topics followed by time for further discussion, sharing, and brainstorming. In addition to the break-out opportunities, we will also take some time to celebrate IMTE's 20th year as an organization! Registration for the conference is free and you are encouraged to spread the word to interested colleagues.

Break-Out Session Topics will be finalized closer to July 14 based on survey data and total number of registrations. Looking at the topics below, please CHOOSE 2 that you would be most interested in attending.

A) Delivering Methods/Content Courses in Online Environments (What have we learned during the Pandemic? How can we leverage these lessons moving forward?)

B) Culturally Responsive Teaching in the Math Classroom (What does this look like? How is it promoted in methods classes?)

C) Math Education Research Sharing (Hear about research being done by IL math educators. Share about your research.)

D) Teaching Pre-Service Teachers about Math Education Technologies (What does this look like in various IL methods/content courses?)

E) Panel Discussion with "newer" IL Teachers (1-3 years experience) (Reflection on what was helpful regarding their math teaching preparation and what they wished had been addressed in more depth.)

(Optional) Break-out Sessions will consist of several pre-selected attendees taking ~10 minutes to share about their work related to the session topic, followed by general discussion, questions, and brainstorming. IMTE Membership Information

You do not need to be an active IMTE Member to attend this Free Conference, but you are encouraged to become an official member! IMTE membership is $10/year or $25 for three years.
