Through a Vocal Teaching Lens

Hinekoia offers practical tools and advice on how to engage with Te Ao Māori in the music studio and music classroom. There are many talented Māori singers and performers who come across our path in the journey of teaching. We have the unique opportunity to tautoko their journey and also help them make connections into Te Ao Māori through waiata.

Hinekoia runs a business called Waiata Mai Vocal Coaching. This pakihi (business) was birthed out of her desire to fuse two of her passions (vocal coaching & te ao Māori) to help people sing confidently and engage with Te Reo in a fun and supportive learning environment. She also works with Kapa Haka groups and helps train them for Te Matatini (the national Kapa Haka competition).
