Introduction
A little boy asked his mother, “Mom, where did I come from?” His mother told him that she found him under a cabbage leaf. Later on, in school, he met a friend whose mother told him that he fell from an aircraft. Where do we really come from? What is the origin of life and family? Let us see if we can find the answer in the clear, unadulterated word of God.
The Creation of Man
The Bible gives an explanation of how life all began and where the human family came from and it was not by chance!
1. How did it all begin? (see Genesis 1:1-2) *
The Creation of Man (cont'd)
The above text did not try to prove the existence of God. It simply asserts that He exists and that He created everything – light and darkness, land and sea, sun and moon, fishes, birds, trees, and the beasts of the field were all created by Him (Genesis Chapter 1)
2. What happened next? (see Genesis 1:26-27) *
The Original Family
In Genesis Chapter 2, the author expands on some of the details of the creation of man. The gift of his domain, his duties, and the origin of his family relationship was explained.
3. What need did God fill for Adam in Genesis 2:21-25? *
The Original Sin
The beauty and splendour of man’s Edenic home is indescribable, but a drastic shift took place.
4. What happened? (see Genesis 3:1-4) *
5. After her conversation with the serpent, what did Eve do? (see Genesis 3:6) *
6. What are the consequences of man’s action? Genesis 3:9-19 *
Conclusion
God created a perfect world and Adam and his wife were made to live in it and serve God forever, but they sinned and the “wages of sin is death” (Romans 6:23). However, the good news is that through the coming of Jesus Christ into the world, those who believe in Him might be saved (John 3:16). “The earth originally given to man as his kingdom, betrayed by him into the hand of Satan, and so long held by the mighty foe has been brought back by the great plan of redemption…” (Ellen G. White, God’s Amazing Grace, pp.361). One day Eden lost will be Eden restored!
