Garden to Table Silicon Valley is a non-profit urban farm located in downtown San Jose. The mission of our organization is to educate and create a network of food systems that builds community and improves access to healthy food. Our farm is an educational hub for all ages to learn to grow their own produce and care for chickens.
Garden to Table Silicon Valley's internship program offers an immersive, hands-on opportunity to learn about sustainable urban agriculture and work with experienced staff members. No prior experience is required.
What to expect: this internship is for those who are interested in gaining hands-on urban farm experience. It is a weekly 8-hour commitment and includes assistance with volunteer days, special events, and help with daily tasks. You'll learn all about composting, greenhouse work, and propagation/seed saving; the new and exciting world of perennial vegetables; how to turn unusable land into a fertile garden oasis; how to maximize space, save money, and have healthy, productive vegetables; the healthiest varieties you can grow; and caring for chickens. There are also opportunities to participate in work related to running the nonprofit. The internship is for the season, with flexibility regarding the start/end dates.
