Miami-Dade County Public Schools continues to strive to offer flexibility and variety in school choice by providing specialized non-Magnet Programs that give parents and students exceptional additional options in their educational decisions. Choice Programs offer a broad variety of specialty programs.

Choice programs are thematic, curriculum-based programs offered at all grade levels and implemented during the regular school day.

Please note that transportation is not provided for Choice programs, therefore parents will need to make provisions for transporting student(s) to South Dade Senior High if accepted into the program.

High School Academy of Choice applications should only be completed by the parent/legal guardian of a rising 9th-10th grade student who desires to transfer to South Dade Senior High School under academy provisions.

Below are the minimum requirements for acceptance into any Academy, but does not guarantee acceptance into the program:
GPA: 2.0
Absences and tardies will be checked and used to determine eligibility.
Discipline and referrals will be checked and used to determine eligibility.
VPA Programs require auditions.

Academy applications may be submitted from: October 1, 2023 – March 11, 2024.  

By completing this form, I understand and agree to all the guidelines above for academy admission to South Dade Senior High School for the 2023-2024 school year. It will be my responsibility to enroll my child at the requested school, if his/her academy application is approved.

 Applicants will be notified by email of approval or denial  starting April 15, 2024.
