"Let's Deliberate!" Request for Proposals

Is there a difficult or contentious issue of public concern that your organization, program, department, office, or business would like to have a conversation about, but you are hesitant because you don’t know how it would go? Do you see the value of such a discussion but are not sure how to organize it effectively?

If so, the Deliberative Citizenship Initiative (DCI) may be able to help through its "Let's Deliberate!" Deliberation Partnership Program. Every year, the DCI’s Fellows organize their own deliberation projects on topics that are of interest to them and others in our community. They could assist you in designing and facilitating a conversation on a topic that members of your group are interested in discussing. These Fellows are Davidson students who have gone through intensive deliberation facilitation training and have served as facilitators of the DCI’s Deliberative “D” Teams and Deliberative Forums.

If you are interested in exploring this option with one of our Fellows, please submit a brief description of your group or organization and what topic of public concern that you would like to discuss below. While we cannot guarantee that we will be able to match you with one of our Fellows, we will make our best efforts to do so. The priority deadline for Spring 2024 projects is November 27, 2023, but proposals are welcome after this deadline as well.
