MENTORS! The information following this paragraph is available to teens who intend to join our 10 week program. When you are done reading, if you are interested in being a leader, hand-holder, support, cheerleader, advice giver, adult who cares about a kid and their dream, a mentor, then PLEASE fill out the form and join us! The program begins the first or second week of February and ends mid-April. Sessions will last 2.5 hours 1 day a week. Based on your skill set and interests, you'll choose a teen or group to work with and jump in on their mission.

Fledgling STEM (Stem-based Teen Entrepreneurs & Mentors) Program supports the focus area: Educating Tomorrow’s Scientific Leaders. Our program will match youth entrepreneurs with local mentors as they develop their business models, form their pitches, create prototypes and more. The program will help give young people in Lansing something to work toward that monetizes their interests and passions, leading to a stronger economic future and more differentiated life experiences which support a diverse community. It will also provide an opportunity for more experienced entrepreneurs, mentors and coaches to find happiness in serving a higher purpose beyond self as they support and lead a young mind through difficult processes of entrepreneurialism. As relationships and understanding between generations are fostered, we will all reap the benefits of a more diverse think tank of creators, developers, engineers and entrepreneurs, inspiring both the current and future STEM workforce in Lansing.
The program will be offered to students in grades 7 and up. We are looking for teens with an idea that includes science, technology, engineering and/or math in their entrepreneurial pursuit. It is NOT first come, first served. We will select teen entrepreneurs based on answers to the questions, feasibility of project described, relevance to local Lansing problems, inclusion of STEM and availability of mentors.
