Hudson-Landsberg Sister City has a mission to encourage the study of German language and culture. With travel to Germany restricted this year, we are pleased to offer grant funds for Hudson students to attend either virtual or residential sessions at the renowned Concordia Language Village in Minnesota. The German village is known as Waldsee. (http://www.concordialanguagevillages.org/youth-languages/german-language-village)

Funds for these grants have been provided by the Burton D. Morgan Foundation.

Please view the website above for detailed information about the offerings. Waldsee at Concordia offers German-language instruction for learners at all levels (beginner to advanced). Instruction is engaging, interactive, and immersive - the school teaches using a tried and true immersive strategy. Even the virtual instruction is kept fun with lessons where learners will cook, sing songs, create skits and much more.

A quick description of offerings includes:
VIRTUAL - learners connect online; one teacher for groups of 6-8; small group activities
**one week virtual instruction (3 hours of synchronous + 1 hour asynchronous)
**four week HS credit (instruction provides credit for one year of high school language)

RESIDENTIAL - learners travel to the camp in Minnesota; students stay in cabins; more sessions may be added as restrictions loosen (even if the website currently says "waitlist")
**four week enrichment (instruction to enhance language abilities)
**four week HS credit (instruction provides credit for one year of high school language)

Hudson-Landsberg Sister City is offering grants of $395 to cover the full cost of the one week virtual courses and grants of up tp $1,000 to help offset the costs of the four week courses. Funds will be paid by check. Grantees must pay for the course and submit a receipt to Hudson-Landsberg Sister City. Please contact us for questions.
