Details to follow
This year’s April trip will be to the Tukituki River, Hawkes Bay on the weekend of 16-18th . The Tukituki River has mainly rainbow trout though some brown are also present. Trout average around 1.5 kg, with some fish up to 4 kg caught, especially in the lower reaches. The Tukituki River and its tributaries cover a wide area in the Hawke's Bay. These rivers are in the Ruahine Ranges and flow for approximately 80 km to enter the Pacific just south of Napier.
Where & how:
We are staying 3 nights ( Thursday, Friday and Saturday ) in the Hastings Anglers Club house in Patangata, south of Havelock North. It is a comfortable Lodge adjacent to the Patangata Pub @ Elsthorpe Road, Otane 4277 which is 40 minutes south of Havelock North. :-
.
It is quite a way from Auckland so if you contact me I will try to match people up for car sharing.
We have been talking to the Hastings Club, club members who know the river well and will join us and introduce us to the area.
What to Bring:
Well other than the obvious fishing gear you will need to bring along your own bedding or a sleeping bag. As with every trip we would also like to encourage any fly tiers to bring along your vice for some evening entertainment and pattern swapping.
It could be chilly so come prepared and of course bring you favourite tipple, although we do have a pub next door.
Meals:
We will be providing dinner for those already there on Thursday, a cooked breakfast on Friday, Saturday and Sunday as well as dinner on Friday night. For Saturday night the suggestion is that we go next door to the Patangata Tavern to have dinner and watch the rugby if it is on.
I will bring buns and filling for lunches for the three days, but feel free to bring along any snacks or refreshments and your favourite brew.
Cost and Bookings:
The cost for this trip will be $140 per person and includes meals as above and accommodation.
Go onto the club website and book for the Tukituki trip ( that is the best) or either email or phone me, 0274972339. I will have a list.
Tight lines
