In the last five years, women-led startups in Pakistan only raised 3% of the total amount of funding in the startup ecosystem. Female founders often speak about the challenges in raising funding in Pakistan, and those barriers are reflected in the data in the market: women-led companies typically raise angel or seed funding, but have yet to raise a Series A round in Pakistan. WeRaise is a new initiative that aims to address this funding gap, and will support women-led companies in the country in attracting and raising capital. Supported by the World Bank’s Women’s Entrepreneurial Finance Initiative (We-Fi), WeRaise is being implemented by Invest2Innovate and is in partnership with global partners Efino.
Applications are open for Cluster III of WeRaise. Selected companies will receive access to a team of coaches, international & local mentors, connections to investors, and additional services to support you in your fundraising process.
This competitive program will select women founded or co-founded startups that are looking to or are currently raising capital for their businesses. The startups will be inducted into a cluster (versus a cohort), which will be more bespoke and customized to the needs of the company and designed to help you raise capital -- whether that takes one month or four months (or more). Selected startups will receive a team of coaches following an intensive assessment process, access to a pool of local & international mentors & experts, and connections to investors and capital raising seminars.
WeRaise Selection Criteria:
- Female co-founded or founded (50% or more) companies
- Companies have initial market traction/post-revenue
- Companies are registered companies (private limited entities if in Pakistan)
- Founder(s) are full-time on their business
- Companies are raising seed-stage funding and/or actively seeking seed investment (pre-seed to post-seed)
Shortlisted startups will be called for an interview round after which a final selection will be made for the third cluster.
