2023-2024 Nelson Edward Powell Memorial Music Scholarship Application
The Nelson Edward Powell Memorial Music Scholarship is to honor Mr. Nelson “Edd” Powell and his dedication to the music students in Cabarrus County.  In 1984 Mr. Powell became the band director at Central Cabarrus High School in Concord, NC.  Through his love of music and teaching, he reshaped the CCHS Band into a nationally known program.  From 1991 until his retirement, Mr. Powell taught at several middle schools in Concord, NC sharing his passion for music and teaching with hundreds of students every day.  Through the gift of music, Mr. Powell influenced many young lives and created memories to last a life time.

A one-time $500 scholarship will be given to one senior at Central Cabarrus High School and one senior at Hickory Ridge High School who has participated in the music programs at their schools for at least three years.

Applications are due by Monday, May 6, 2024.
