2020 Camp Icaghowan CIT Application Application
Thank you for your interest in being a part of the Counselor in Training (CIT) Program at YMCA Camp Icaghowan in the summer of 2020!

Camp Icaghowan's CIT program offers a leadership development program tailored to campers who intend to become a counselor and/or youth development worker in the future.  Incorporated in this continuous 3 week program is a camping trip to the BWCA, education across the wide array of youth leadership, and opportunities to shadow and work alongside camp counselors. Ultimately, if your goal is to be a counselor at Icaghowan, please remember that these three weeks are a training and an interview.

This application constitutes the first round of your interview to be accepted into the CIT Program. Some of the questions are simple, but others will take some time and creativity.  Take your time and most importantly be your true self!   This application needs to be in by February 3, 2020.

Feel free to take a look at our 2020 Summer website to get an idea of what we do at Camp Icaghowan: https://www.ymcamn.org/camps/camp_icaghowan/summer_camp

Thanks!

We encourage campers that this be their last step at camp before being able to apply for staff.  Please know that you have to be 18 to be employed as a camp counselor at Camp Icaghowan.  If you have not participated in WLC's or Islanders yet and are not going to be 17 this summer we would encourage you to select one of those programs and then do the CIT Program the summer before being eligible to be considered for staff. We will only be able to accept those who are 17 to be on staff summer 2020 immediately following their CIT experience.
Which Session do you prefer? *
There will be space for 4 female and 4 male CIT's in each session.  We will do our best to accommodate your requests if you are accepted into the program, but please know that you may not get your first choice.

As a CIT you will have the opportunity to shadow and spend time paired with a cabin group.  For many campers this is their first experience being away from home.  Tell us how you would deal with a homesick camper in your group. *
The CIT Program is viewed as the last step towards being a counselor, what would you like to gain from this experience?
Camp culture expectations *
I understand that submitting this application in no way guarantees that I will be accepted to the Camp Icaghowan Counselor in Training Program.  If selected, I understand that I am expected to adhere to all the policies and regulations of the CIT program and of YMCA Camp Icaghowan.  CIT's are expected to be profession with one another, be on time to all obligations, and be positive role models.  Inability to do so may result in dismissal from the program.  Furthermore, I understand that completion of the CIT program does not guarantee that I will be hired as a staff member at YMCA Camp Icaghowan, but that this program is a first step in the interview process.
