Allegheny River Trail in Clarion County, (ARTinCC) is pleased to announce that the Emlenton - Foxburg section of the Erie to Pittsburgh Trail is becoming a reality. We have secured one mile of the trail corridor and are seeking required permits so that we may begin fundraising for construction. The trail will begin with a one mile section starting at the Foxburg bridge going north, eventually closing the three mile gap between the two towns. Plans include a parking area and a Foxburg riverside park. We hope to preserve and improve the existing non-powered boat launch if funds are sufficient. Construction costs and available funding will determine the final plans. The northern trailhead in Emlenton and refurbishing of the Richey Run Bridge are in the planning stages, DCNR and DCED grants having already been secured. Your tax deductible donations and volunteer work will help us to qualify for significant matching funds as grants from various agencies.
We thank you for your interest and, with your generous help, we will connect Parker to Foxburg to Emlenton all the way to Titusville, and eventually to Erie and Pittsburgh, realizing our part of the “Great American Rail-Trail” spanning the entire nation. This trail system will bring proven economic benefits to our communities and health benefits to bikers, hikers, runners and cross country skiers as well as water sports enthusiasts.
