Some residents are navigating contracts with old and new landlords, and others are trying to file or settle insurance claims. Do you have knowledge and time to share?
Paperwork / claims filing *
There are numerous agencies with aid to offer, but that require (often extensive) paper work to be completed and filed. Could you help someone through this process? (Many residents are seniors with varying 'red tape' fluency.)
Sorting through physical donations *
As we get needs from residents we will need help sorting and organizing donations from people in the community.
Helping do laundry *
For residents who may be spending a prolonged time at the hotel, it might be helpful if someone can give a hand with laundry. Clothes could be picked up / dropped off at the hotel.
Making Meals *
Are you a home cook who can offer to provide a dish to someone living at the hotel, or with a local host who might appreciate a night off from cooking?
Delivering Meals *
Some residents may need meals or food delivered as a way to give them extra time to do other tasks as they rebuild. Not everyone who is willing to cook will be available to deliver...
Grocery Pickup/Delivery *
Some residents may ask for assistance picking up/delivering groceries
Moving Help *
Lifting and moving furniture and other items that will be needed to fill their new residences.
Pickup Truck assistance *
If you have a pickup truck or vehicle that is able to carry large items and are willing to help as people move to new residences or transporting donations to various locations
Trailer (for moving) available to loan *
For some larger items, a trailer would be even more flexible than a truck or large vehicle.
Unpacking Help *
With the pandemic, not everyone will feel comfortable with indoor, in-person contact. But, if you are, and have time to offer to help a displaced resident get unpacked in their new home, at least some of them might appreciate a helping hand.
