Peer mediation is a restorative practice that Sprague High School has implemented as an alternative to punitive punishment. Mediations are student driven and student-led. Using restorative practices such as mediation has been shown to strengthen relationships and improve non violent communication. Mediation focuses on the incident of harm rather than the consequence.
Mediation Process
1. Mediators meet with each student individually to go over mediation questions and process
2. Mediators meet with both students together
3. An agreement is made at the end of the mediation that both students sign
4. Mediators will follow up with students a few weeks after the mediation to check in and make sure agreement is being followed
