The 3-day workshop series is the required means by which faculty become certified to teach Writing Intensive (WI) and Written Communication (WC) courses such as Intellectual Foundations. The WAC workshops provide faculty with support on topics ranging from planning a Writing Intensive/Written Communication course to responding to student writing. Upon completion of the three-day workshop series, each first-time participant will receive a $250.00 stipend and will be eligible to teach WI and WC courses. Those who have attended in the past are welcome to participate again, though without receiving a stipend. The 3-day training will culminate in the keynote workshop on Thursday morning (8/25).

The keynote workshop (8/25) will be led by Kathleen Blake Yancey, and is titled “The Benefits and Challenges of Reflective Writing: Definitions, Models, Examples, Motivations—and Some Practical Advice.”

Prof. Yancey specializes in the uses of reflection in the classroom and across the curriculum; her presentation promises to be useful to individual instructors and to our collective dialogue around the uses of reflection in our GE framework. All faculty are warmly invited to attend.
