Make Music Day invites you to join in the fifth annual global song swap! Learn a song by another artist and hear yours covered in return. Songwriters, composers, musicians and bands of all styles and walks of life are invited to participate!
You do not need access to professional recording equipment to enter this song swap: Any kind of recording that captures your creative concept is fine, just work with what you have to get your ideas onto the recording; creativity is the single most important factor here. We are excited to hear what you come up with, and especially want to encourage you to use any unusual or unique instruments or techniques that you know; let your imagination fly!Partners will be introduced by
May 20th, carefully matched using this form.* You’ll make their song your own, share a video of it on Instagram or YouTube on June 21st, and use #mysongisyoursong to join in the celebration! Send the Instagram or YouTube link to catherine@makemusicday.org, and it will appear on our website (check out
www.makemusicday.org/national-projects/mysongisyoursong/ for a sample of the amazing videos from last year!).
Below, you will be asked to share a link to a recording, and any written music or lyrics for the song (if you have it). If your song isn't publicly available, upload it to a cloud file sharing service (Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive, etc), turn on link sharing, and paste the link.
Any further questions? Email catherine@makemusicday.org*NOTE: You are also welcome to find your own partner to swap with, and use the hashtag #mysongisyoursong on June 21st to join in. If you'll be doing that, email catherine@makemusicday.org to let us know.
This form is for requesting a partner. We are very excited to announce special prizes for this year’s song swap! One pair of songwriters will be selected at random to receive these prize bundles: #MySongIsYourSong participants: a ukulele from Flight, a Scarlett 2i2 (4th gen) audio interface from Focusrite, and a Novation Launchkey 37.
