Sat Aug 6 Schedule and Description
9-10am Building a Ballet Body - Former professional dancer, Steffanie Casperson, shares a workout she developed in her performance career which strengthens, lenthens, and maintains the muscles needed to execute advanced ballet technique. This workout can be used as a warm-up, broken down and incorporated in class, or used to keep dancers in shape over longer breaks. A yoga mat and foam roller are recommended. Ankle weights under 3lbs are optional.
10-12pm Technique for 8-11yo - Learn the do's and don't which clean up these younger dancers in their class work. This will be a hands-on class so come prepared to put these concepts into your OWN body so you can know how to teach them to your dancers. You MAY also just observe. Class will progress slowly with lots of time for note taking and questions.
12-1pm Lunch with Q&A* - Topics may include class content up to this point OR discussion related to topics suggested at Friday's Meet and Greet Dinner
1-3pm Technique for 12+yo - At about age 12, dancers should have established the earlier building blocks and begin to expand their step capacity. Learn what identifies advanced and refined technique, and how to teach it!
3-4pm Pointe for Beginners - Pointe is more than a different kind of dance shoe. Learn how to help your students develop strength and increase their control and articulation through the feet with instruction specific to work en pointe!
4-5pm Engaging Boys in Ballet - Learn the key focuses of male ballet training and how to begin to incorporate these for your boys in ballet class.
5-6pm Dinner with Q&A* - Again, discussion may cover class content from the afternoon or diverge into topics yet to be discussed!
