OLGC Statements of Faith and Handbook
If you haven't yet, now is the time to review the Statements of Faith and updated Handbook. Final modifications to the 2024-25 Handbook will be made during the summer, but they will be minor. The following questions will reference these policies and procedures:

EXPECTATIONS: The mission of OLGC is to faithfully serve God, support home educators, offer opportunities for academic excellence, and form a solid Catholic community for middle and high school students. Every parent plays an integral role in carrying out the functions needed to fulfill the mission. Every student takes ownership in his/her own role to respectfully and actively assist those parents. Each member (parent, tutor, student, volunteer) must respect and abide by the OLGC policies and procedures which are designed for the purpose of fulfilling the mission of the co-op. *
EXPECTATIONS continued: Before continuing with Family Enrollment, please ensure your student(s) demonstrates an understanding of his/her role in supporting the OLGC mission and desires to be a part of it by upholding the policies and procedures (especially its Catholic identity through the Statements of Faith and the Student Policy, Dress Code, Electronic Device Policy, and Disciplinary Actions on pp 15-21 of the Handbook). *
SERVICE HOUR REQUIREMENTS:

In order to ensure the safety of our children, OLGC and the Diocese of Fort Worth require all adult participants to meet the following criteria:

  • 18 years of age and older
  • not registered with OLGC as a student for at least one year
  • have a valid, up-to-date Safe Environment Certification granted by the Diocese of Fort Worth
  • grant permission for OLGC to request a copy of his/her Motor Vehicle Record
  • be familiar with and agree to the “Safe Environment” section of the OLGC Handbook which includes certification requirements, acceptable behavior standards, reporting procedures, etc.
  • be included in the official list of OLGC adult participants by September of the current academic year

Furthermore, the success of Our Lady of Good Counsel is dependent upon the contributions of its participating families. Please confirm you agree to the following:

  • I agree to provide service hours, whether it be served out by myself, my spouse, or another Safe Environment certified adult.
  • I understand that certain, but not all, service hour positions allow my younger children to attend with me.
  • I understand that I am required to fulfill a minimum number of service hours per quarter. The number is determined by the number of member families and the number of slots needed for that quarter. This usually averages to be about 6-8 timeslots per month, but this number is not guaranteed and is determined quarter by quarter.
  • Each timeslot is 1 hour and 20 minutes. There are six timeslots available each Tuesday. There are two timeslots available each Thursday.
  • All families fulfill the same number of Service Hours no matter how many students or how many courses are registered. (Exception: OLGC Tutors and Steering Committee contribute to the co-op through their tutoring and administration rather than through member Service Hours.)
  • I understand the option to pay another member family to complete my service hours is solely dependent on the availability of other member families. I understand that I should not depend on being able to use this option as there are often not enough member families available to offer it.
  • I understand that if I do not fulfill my required service hours, it places an undue burden on other member families and my family may be ineligible to return to OLGC in the future.

In addition to required Service Hours, OLGC has many volunteer positions available to help the organization run smoothly and provide an optimal experience to the students and community. We ask all member families to seriously pray about and consider these vital volunteer positions.

ABOVE ALL, we ask each and every member family to pray intentionally for the Community!

It takes much prayer and many hands to fulfill the OLGC mission! *
FINANCIAL: Each family pays a per-year Family Enrollment Fee (one per family) to the co-op: $200 until May 31; $225 until Jun 30; $250 until Jul 31; $275 thereafter. This is non-refundable and is the same for every family no matter how many students or courses are registered. In addition, Course Tuition & Supply Fees are paid separately (details may be found in the Course Catalog.) Each student is responsible for acquiring his/her own course materials as listed in the Book List that will be provided in the summer. Please purchase early enough that all materials are received by Aug 1. *
MANDATORY: At least one parent and all registered students MUST attend the mandatory Orientation on Aug 13, 2024. Childcare will not be available; please do not bring non-registered siblings. (We are sorry for the inconvenience. This is one of the very few events during the year where we have this strict stipulation.) While other family members may fulfill the family's service hours, it must be a student's actual parent or legal guardian who attends Orientation with the student. PLEASE MARK YOUR CALENDAR NOW. *
